FLIGHT SCHEDULES:

Please note that flight scheduling from Wellington and Christchurch may mean different arrival and departure times. You will be advised of this when booking.

Day 1: HOME/MELBOURNE

We are picked up from our home addresses anywhere in the greater Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch areas and taken to the airport to meet our Tour Escort and our fellow travellers.  We depart on the short flight across the Tasman to the vibrant city of Melbourne, Australia. On arrival we are transferred to our hotel, the  beautiful Movenpick Hotel, centrally located on the Corner of Burke and Spencer St.

Day 2: MELBOURNE SIGHTSEEING (BD)

This morning we enjoy breakfast at the hotel before joining our coach for a sightseeing tour of the city.  Visit Fitzroy Gardens and see Captain Cooks Cottage, See Parliament house, Windsor hotel. Queen Victoria Market, The Melbourne Cricket ground (MCG), Rod Laver Arena, Flinders St Station, Young & Jacksons Hotel, and St Patrick’s Cathedral.  Travel past the Grand Prix Race Track, the Westgate Bridge and over the Bolte Bridge for great views of Melbourne.  View Port Phillip Bay, the Yarra River and Victorian Arts Centre and see the Melbourne Aquarium.  The tour finishes at Federation Square and you are then free for the afternoon to take in Melbourne’s culture, history and character at your own pace. In a nod to Movenpick’s Swiss heritage and famous Chocolate, our hotel hosts “chocolate hour” from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. daily where you can indulge in complimentary chocolate-themed sweets that change daily.  This evening join your Tour Manager for dinner at our hotel.

Day 3: DANDENONGS/"PUFFING BILLY" (B L)

A day full of gorgeous scenery today.  We join our coach and travel out to the Dandenongs.  We arrive in Belgrave where we join the famous steam train “Puffing Billy”. Travel through Sherbrooke Forest with many magnificent examples of the native “mountain ash” trees—a form of Eucalypt and the tallest flowering plant in the world.  We cross the famous Trestle Bridge 300 feet long (91.4m) and 42 feet high (12.8m) to arrive at the highest station on the line, Emerald.  Lunch will be enjoyed at the delightful Fortnum’s restaurant which is in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges and in the quaint village of Sassafras. Set amongst picturesque gardens with the look and feel of an English Conservatory. Then it’s on to Cloudehill Nursery where you will be enthralled by the beautiful foliage on display.  Time to enjoy a wander here before returning to Melbourne. Dinner is on own arrangements  tonight.  Your Tour Manager can help with suggestions.

Day 4: MELBOURNE FLOWER SHOW (B D)

After breakfast this morning we are transferred to the Melbourne International Flower show. Here we can enjoy the show at our own pace. Each show garden will be a representation of the  designer’s unbridled, unique vision.

The heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building is a sight in itself but will be taken to the next level, housing 1,000’s of freshly cut & styled blooms filling the air with gorgeous scents across the five days. Floral designers, florists & flower enthusiasts will create some of the most stunning floral installations under its roof, a sight you won’t want to miss.  Your choice as to how long you spend at the show. You can make your own way back to the hotel when you feel like it.  Tonight join your Tour Manager for dinner.

Day 5: MELBOURNE - FREE DAY (B SD)

We have left today free for you.   Melbourne has so much to offer from Shopping in the variety of stores available. Perhaps a visit to Docklands where the factory shops are located or visit the Markets.  You may prefer to spend some more time at the Garden Show.   Your Tour Manager can assist you with booking extra sightseeing options.

Tonight we join the “Spirit of Melbourne” and enjoy dinner with a drink whilst taking in the stunning views of the city from the Yarra River.

Day 6: DEPART MELBOURNE FOR HOME (B)

Today our last day in Melbourne.  Flights are   scheduled at different times but everyone will be transferred to the airport in plenty of time. On arrival back to our home ports we will be taken back to our home addresses in the greater Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch areas.
